Hello and welcome to my first ever blog post! It was pretty daunting getting myself to sit down and write as I haven’t done so since sixth form, which scarily was a very long time ago! I have decided to start now as in just over a month’s time my boyfriend, Jack, and I will be taking the ultimate plunge and will be heading off on our travels. So I thought I might as well share my experiences with you! We are quitting our jobs, moving out of our flat and selling our belongings. We have been waiting and saving for what feels like forever and I can’t believe the time is nearly here.
Our rough plan is to spend three to four months flitting around South East Asia and then head off to New Zealand to see what it has to offer. It will hopefully be filled with lots of new memories and experiences and who knows what will happen after! There is a definitely a lot of pressure to follow the routine of buying a house, getting married and having kids and we aren’t ready for that just yet!
I cannot wait to see what each country will bring, probably some stressful and testing times, but no doubt I will catch the travelling bug and want to explore many more amazing places.
Am I scared? Hell yes! I have never ventured outside Europe and been away from home for longer than two weeks. I will undoubtedly miss my family and my home comforts, but I will have the person that makes my home feel like home with me every step of the way. I would 100% not be doing this on my own, I can’t even order a drink at the bar without getting nervous!
Another big struggle is trying to decide what to take with me, I am such a clothes lover and wish I could carry my whole wardrobe, but I know that isn’t possible! I haven’t bought new clothes to wear in the UK for so long, but still find myself scrolling through the ASOS New In section every day just out of habit. I will have to be satisfied with re-wearing the same seven or so outfits again and again for the foreseeable future! That being said I do think it might be quite liberating only being able to choose from what you have with you. I’ll let you know on that one!
Anyway, thank you for getting to the end of this post… You will most likely hear from me again when I’m in Thailand carrying my massive backpack around looking like a tortoise! See ya!
